FEMA Public Assistance | Remote | 1099 Independent Contractor

From initial scoping through final closeout, we work closely with applicant teams to interpret federal requirements, organize documentation, and respond to evolving recovery needs.

We are actively seeking an experienced Documentation Validation Specialist to support applicants participating in FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) program. This consultant role focuses on documentation accuracy, organization, and policy alignment under FEMA’s PA program, ensuring that all project files are audit-ready and consistent with federal requirements.

  • Review and validate FEMA PA project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and policy alignment
  • Organize project files according to FEMA documentation standards and internal quality frameworks
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or missing documentation across the project portfolio
  • Prepare documentation validation reports with findings and recommended corrective actions
  • Support applicants in compiling documentation in response to FEMA RFIs, audits, and desk reviews
  • Coordinate with project managers and compliance analysts to resolve documentation deficiencies
  • Maintain version-controlled file structures and document tracking logs
  • Upload validated documentation to the FEMA Grants Portal
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in FEMA PA documentation, federal grant records management, or related compliance work
  • Strong understanding of FEMA PA documentation requirements and file organization standards
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of complex documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and document management platforms
  • Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor
  • Experience with FEMA Grants Portal document uploads and project file management
  • Background in records management, archival science, or compliance documentation
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Smartsheet, or similar project collaboration platforms
